Textiles Project: Fabric Screen Printing & Embroidery

I found this project really enjoyable. The title we were given was 'Everyday Pattern', so I decided to look into the patterns that we see everyday in nature. I did this through my own primary research by studying different leaves in particular and recording this through taking photographs and making sketches. I took inspiration from two artists: Hannah Rampley and Dorothy Tucker. Hannah Rampley creates designs of layering different plant imagery using screenprinting and stencils. Dorothy Tucker had a really interesting way of using embroidery to manipulate an image. I took inspiration from both artists that is evident in my own work, however I have combined both approaches to create an interesting final image.
Despite thoroughly enjoying this project and becoming quite motivated with new ideas, I don't think I will specialise in Textiles. However I would really like to bring in certain aspects of it into my chosen specialty. I would really like to experiment more in printing and start using embroidery in a Fine Art approach.
