Illustration Project: Wild

The first rotation of the course was Illustration which was quite exciting! The project title was 'Wild'. I responded to this using a variety of ideas, but the one I liked most was the 'wild woman'. Whilst exploring my ideas throughout the three days, we had tutorials on relevant skills and techniques. For example we were given a basic introduction to PhotoShop which was good to refresh my memory and remind myself of features that may possibly help with future work.
We were also taught how to screenprint, which is something I hadn't every tried before. We printed onto paper through a screen that had already been exposed with a pattern. The effect was really interesting and so I decided to use one of the prints as a base and background for my final piece/idea. It was also really interesting to see the work that others had produced and the different ways that they had responded to the project title. I really enjoyed the project once I knew what I was doing, however I wished that I could have experimented with more confidence and therefore turnover more work and develop towards a final piece. Saying that though, I learned a lot and got a taste of what illustration was like.
