Progression: University and Gap Years

University Although I'm not sure whether I want to attend university right away, I thought it would be a good idea to apply this year to have a place if I wanted it, with the option to defer to the next year if I feel like a gap year may benefit me. Open Days The open days were really helpful in gathering a feel for the place, the university and the course. I wouldn't have had the same impression from research online so I really valued the opportunity to visit the place. Falmouth University 2016 I visited the open day at Falmouth University as I had heard good things about the Interior Design, Illustration and Fine Art courses that were held there. Personal Statement & CV

Painting resonates throughout my work as I tend to focus on the human form. Oil painting is my favourite medium to use as the slow drying qualities and texture really suits my way of working. I am a very patient person and therefore I like to spend a considerable amount of time on a piece so that I can hone in on the small, but significant detail. Surprisingly, I have found working in swift, simplistic ways very exciting too. For example, in a recent Life Drawing class the model slowly walked around the room whilst I captured his form in a few swift strokes of a scalpel through black paper. Other materials used in life drawing involved charcoal, taking inspiration from artists such as Anita Taylor. I think this gave me a good focus in life drawing and allowed me to develop the character of the piece.
